Data Analyst résumé — what actually clears the screen

Data Analyst screening is blunt: if SQL isn't prominent, the résumé usually doesn't survive the first pass. After that, recruiters look for evidence you turned data into a decision someone made — not a list of tools. Structure the page so SQL, one BI tool and one scripting language are unmissable, then spend your bullets on analyses that changed something.

What recruiters look for

SQL, named early and backed by bullets — window functions, joins across large tables, query optimisation. It is the #1 hard filter for analyst roles.
One BI tool with real scope: dashboards you built, who used them, what decision they informed (Power BI / Tableau / Looker).
Python or R for analysis (pandas, notebooks) — needed for a growing share of JDs, and an exact-match ATS keyword.
Business outcomes, not chart counts: 'identified the drop-off step that led to X change', not 'created 15 dashboards'.
Statistics literacy where honest — A/B test readouts, cohort analysis, funnel analysis — using the terms the JD uses.
